The English Football Association sent a delegation to Lagos Nigeria to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with CAF, on co-operation between the two parties on training and development of football in Africa.
The English FA has been involved in development projects in Africa for many years and this signing is a renewal of their commitment to assist African football. The co-operation agreement is to run for a further five years.
Alhaji Issa Hayatou, President of CAF met Lord Triesman Chairman of the English Football Association to sign the memorandum on Wednesday 11th February at the Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos.
The English delegation then attended the CAF Awards and were guests at the CAF General Assembly.
Speaking recently, Lord Triesman said ‘we have a long-standing relationship with Africa not least through our involvement in the decade long commitment to the UEFA-CAF Meridian Project. We welcome this renewal of our formal co-operation with CAF, and I have no doubt that it would be a mutually rewarding partnership’.
